Rose Forgrove Chess Club takes it's name from a precision metal
engineering factory which used to exist in East Leeds. The club was started in the 70's by a small group of factory
employees, initially for their own pleasure and entertainment. The club drew in non factory workers, grew & entered the LCA
& YCA.
We now have 6 five men teams which play in the leeds Chess Association leages on Wednesday evenings and 2 eight men teams which play in the Yorkshire Chess Association leagues eleven Saturday afternoons throughout the annual season. The seasons run between October and April each year. During the other months of the year we meet at our home venue on Wednesday evenings to play social chess, hold club events & tornaments.
